Hi...I’m Jessee. Welcome to whatever this is...Home
Page is what I think they call it. I’ve been meaning to visit with your for quite some time, and today I decided I’d
better do that.
I want to tell you about my poetry publication. If you like all kinds of poets and poetry, and
if you can live with a few misspellings and a typo here and there, then you will find yourself right at home with my family.
Subscribers to my publication, Poets at Work, or PAW as we call ourselves, do consider all of us to be one big family. It’s
like a family in that everyone fits in; there is never a thought that someone isn’t good enough. I have many excellent
poets, some contented middle-of-the-road poets, and some of the struggling novices still trying to find their voices. When
I mix their poetry on any given page, they each compliment the other. The most talented poets among us are still hoping to
write an even better poem tomorrow, and the novice is striving to become what the other two groups already are.
My
publication is not chapbook size; it is a full magazine size, and it is always 32-40 pages. About half the pages are filled
with my subscribers’ poetry; the other half are filled with winners in my many contests (always a free one), and announcements
of new contests and other fun things to do, and frequently a narrative about my trips up 422. I’ve become acquainted
with so many unique people on those trips, and they too, have become like family to me and my readers. To many readers, it
is their favorite part of PAW.
I publish every subscriber in every issue as long as he or she writes within the
dictates of good taste and within my 20 line limit. Don’t let the line limit discourage you. I have many contests that
are mostly a buck to enter that allow forty lines. I mail six issues a year on the 10th; start with January, and then move
forward, and you’ll know what months PAW arrives. My subscription is $23.00 a year, and by any standards it’s
truly a bargain. You just have to see it to believe it. Most poets are overwhelmed when they get their first issue.
I’ve
been PAW’s editor for twenty years, and I’m so grateful to my faithful following. I soar higher than eagles because
the sky is my limit; I’m fueled by the gentle breeze that my subscribers’ applause creates. I say that with all
humility, for they are the stars of my publication, and I’m merely the behind-the-scenes director. Without them, I would
have forty empty pages.
There’s one other thing that makes my publication so unique; in every issue I choose
a poet who is designated ‘Distinguished Poet’, and he or she gets a page for her or himself, and a post card is
enclosed to all the subscribers to send congratulations to that poet.
A subscription to PAW doesn’t cost
any more than a pizza with three toppings, (none of those dead fish for me though), and lets see, maybe an order of bread
sticks, and a couple liters of Pepsi, and maybe a half dozen donuts for dessert. Well, let me tell you, PAW is much better
for you...it’s soooo delicious and not the least bit fattening, but I will warn you that it tends to be addictive.
I
could go on and on for a few more pages, but I need to stop here and eat some M & M’s. (I’m addicted to them).
Please check me out. Forgive errors; I’m so very human and make lots of them. See details below. I love you, and I’ll
be looking in my mailbox for you. Just use the coupon provided here.
